Where Can I Find My Honda Warranty Information?

One of the main reasons why people purchase a new vehicle is because of the warranty. However, warranties are not strictly limited to new cars. Used cars also come with warranties to help buyers cover repair expenses and save money. Honda is one of the popular automobile brands that offer different types of warranties to enhance their customers’ driving experience and increase their peace of mind.

There are different places where you can find the warranty information for Honda vehicles. For every new vehicle, the company provides a warranty booklet that has detailed information with regards to the coverage provided by the manufacturer. If you don’t have your booklet with you anymore, you can access the warranty information on the Honda Owners Site. In order to access the information on this site, you must first register your vehicle. Doing this allows you access to warranty information specific to your vehicle. You can get the vehicle registered on owners.honda.com.

What if I am Not a Honda Customer?

You can access basic warranty information about Honda vehicles on the company’s owners site account. Once you are directed to the certified user car link, click on the Warranty tab and there you will find the following information.

  • Three years or 36,000 miles coverage on a new vehicle
  • Powertrain warranty - five years or 60,000 miles.
  • Accessory limited warranty – It covers Honda Genuine Accessories for a period of three years or 36,000 miles

 Important Aspects of Your Warranty

When it comes to warranty, you should consider the following factors.

  1. Coverage Period: With each passing year, your car will require more service. An effective way to check the longevity of the manufacturer’s parts is to check out the maintenance schedule. If you wish to keep the car for more than the warranty period offered then you might have to purchase an extended warranty.
  2. Warranty Coverage: Generally, all warranties cover the drivetrain, including axle assemblies, drivelines, transmission, engine, and turbochargers. However, warranties often do not cover parts that are more likely to wear out, such as brakes, clutches, batteries, etc. Moreover, coverage of these parts is also not included in extended warranties.
  3. Repair and Maintenance: If the repair comes under the manufacturer’s warranty, then your dealer may highlight where the work can be done if you want to leverage warranty benefits. As per the Federal law, the dealer cannot limit owners’ options of mechanics. However, if improper installation by an independent mechanic causes further damage to the vehicle, the dealer may refute the warranty.

When purchasing a vehicle, make sure you thoroughly read the warranty information to ensure that you are aware of what you are getting into. Above are some basic points that will help you understand the coverage in a clearer way.
