The Jury Has Spoken, 2011 Honda CR-Z is Japan's Car Of the Year

A verdict has been reached. The all new 2011 Honda CR-Z is Japan's Car of the Year. Between 60-plus jurors, composed mainly of Japanese journalists, a voted on the Car of the Year title in Japan and the CR-Z came out on top. 

Jurors said the CR-Z was picked because of its "ability to balance driving pleasure and fuel economy." Jurors also noted that Honda managed to "wrap all that high-tech gadgetry inside a unique body design."

Upon receiving the award, Honda's president and CEO, Takanobu Ito, stated:

All Electric Car in the Works For Honda

At a test drive event just outside of Tokyo the CEO of Honda, Takanobu Ito, told a small group of reporters that there is a large demand for fully electric vehicle and he cannot ignore the technology anymore. Ito's view on battery powered vehicles is different from the views of former Honda CEO Takeo Fukui who was a strong supporter of fuel cell vehicles.
